More than 100 museums, historic sites, battlefields and parks from the Adirondacks to Brooklyn are taking part in New York state’s first Hudson River/Champlain Valley Heritage Weekend.

The events being held Saturday and Sunday mark the 400th anniversaries of the explorations of Henry Hudson and Samuel de Champlain and the 200th anniversary of Robert Fulton’s steamboat voyage up the Hudson River.

Events include tours, performances and re-enactments at venues where admission is free or reduced.

The weekend activities include artillery demonstrations at historic military sites near West Point and tours of the Governor’s Mansion in Albany.
