Embattled Ruby’s Bar Gets Back to Business on Coney Island

Astroland is gone and fiesty seaside merchant Dianna Carlin’s popular Lola Starr Souvenir Boutique has been banished from the boardwalk.

But historic and architecturally challenged Coney Island watering hole Ruby’s Bar & Grill will open for the season on Easter Sunday, April 12, after operator Michael Sarrel and family successfully negotiated a new lease with landlord Joe Sitt’s Thor Equities.

The full announcement from the Ruby’s crew:

Ruby’s Opening Day is once again upon us for 2009 season. After successful negotiations with Thor Equities—Ruby’s Bar & Grill will open on Easter Sunday, April 12th at 12 pm. As most have heard the boardwalk in front of Ruby’s has been torn out for repair. According to the Parks Dept, this section of the boardwalk is due to be completed by Easter Sunday.
Assuming everything goes as planned, come on out and enjoy spring at the beach with Ruby’s, The Cyclone and The Wonder Wheel among “old” friends.
