Shipping to be part of Howland Hook waterfront for next half-century

The Port Authority has signed a 35-year lease extension with the city for the 202-acre Howland Hook Marine Terminal in Mariners Harbor. The agency also extended its lease for the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal by 20 years, with the option of further lengthening it to 2058. (more…)

NYCruise Generates over $1 Billion

Cruise Lines International Association’s (CLIA) newly released Economic Impact Study revealed that the New York City cruise industry generated over $1 billion dollars in 2006 and was responsible for over 13,420 local jobs. More than one million passengers came through the City’s cruise facilities this past year making New York the nation’s sixth busiest cruise port during 2006.
