The controversial plan to charge West Side residents for maintaining the High Line Park has been scrapped.
The group Friends of the High Line said Saturday that the plan is on hold after meeting with thousands of property owners.
The original proposal called for home owners adjacent to the High Line to pay up to 9 cents a square foot in taxes to pay for upkeep.
Organizers have said it will cost $3-$4 million a year to maintain the elevated park
