EATERY SKIPS OUT ON BILL

November 17, 2008

The city continues to do business with a swanky waterfront restaurant that keeps stiffing it on rent.

Water’s Edge Restaurant, located on a prime piece of city property in Long Island City, Queens, cheated the city out of at least $210,000 in back rent and unpaid sewer and water charges, city officials said.

Quinn Restaurant Corp., which has operated the catering hall and eatery since 1981, allegedly violated its lease by underreporting its annual gross income, a figure that plays a factor in its rent.
