Sea Bass Limits
BLACK sea bass took a big hit for the com ing season at a recent Fishery Management Council meeting, but there was some good news for summer flounder anglers.
The Atlantic State Marine Fisheries Commission approved consideration of a slot limit that would allow recreational anglers to bring home at least one fish.
Party boat skippers have been looking for a slot limit – a fish most likely between 14 and 18 inches that help their customers go home with something in their creel.
The 2009 recreational quota for black sea bass has been slashed by more than 45 percent from this seasons take.
The new limit on sea bass for recreational anglers in 2009 is lower than at any point in the past 12 years.
New York’s DEC says they have an access agreement with the City of New York that will create new recreational opportunities in the Catskills, including mountain biking, at the 804-acre Mount Hayden parcel in the Town of Windham. This agreement will offer easier access to the Mount Hayden area to hunt, trap, fish, bike and hike without the need to obtain NYC issued access permits.
