Red Hook is set to get ‘Real’, it seems

It seems that MTV’s seminal reality show “The Real World” has finally found a new home: Red Hook.

Workers at Pier 41, a commercial building on Van Dyke Street, confirmed that MTV will house the next season of the show (and the next seven participants) there, next door to small businesses like Steve’s Key Lime Pies and Flickinger Glassworks. Previous rumors had hinted at plans for “Real World: Brooklyn” in Carroll Gardens or Downtown Brooklyn.

“As far as I know, they’ll be filming here,” said one person who confessed to being a production assistant for the show.

Greg O’Connell, the proprietor of Pier 41, said he signed a waiver of confidentiality and declined to speak.

Calls made to MTV were not returned.
