Design proposals sought for NYC pier
July 12, 2008
The entity overseeing the design and construction of the 5-mile Hudson River Park in New York City is seeking design proposals for one of the last piers still available for development. The Hudson River Park Trust said Friday that Pier 57 in Manhattan’s fast-growing Meatpacking District could become a waterfront space offering retail, restaurant, educational and cultural facilities.
The 300,000-square-foot pier is on the National Historic Registry.
Nearly half of the Hudson River Park is already complete. It extends along the Manhattan shoreline from Battery Place to West 59th Street. The trust is a partnership between New York State and the city.
