Floating Garden

Inhabitat, a sustainable design blog, chose to bring our attention yesterday to the Science Barge. Currently floating off of Pier 84 in Hell’s Kitchen,

the barge grows vegetables at a rate seven times more productive than crops grown in fields. It produces no waste or carbon emissions and recycles all the water it uses - which comes from whichever river it happens to be floating from. Its founder, Tom Caplow, created the barge as a way to educate people about urban farming.Gotham Gazette
