SHORE THING FOR DISABLED

In a bid to ensure that the city’s beaches are accessible to the disabled community, city officials have installed specially designed boardwalk-to-ocean beach mats for wheelchair access. Starting today, beaches in the Rockaways, Brighton Beach in Brooklyn, Orchard Beach in The Bronx and Midland Beach on Staten Island will have the mats which are close to accessible public transport and accessible comfort stations.
